A poem on each page gives the clue as to what is hiding in the picture opposite, so young children can follow the rhymes. Winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal 1978.
This text is a wonderful example of rhythmic language and rhyme to demonstrate just how enjoyable the English language is. Students will also enjoy finding the ‘hidden’ picture for the fairy tale on each page. Knowledge of old English rhymes and fairy tales is assumed and it would be a good text to use when exploring fairy tales.
